“Vintage Elegance”
Theme for 2006 Druid Hills Tour of Homes and Gardens

The doors to some of the Druid Hill’s most grand and vintage homes opened to visitors during the 2006 home and garden Tour.  From a fabulous Mediterranean Villa to the 1915 Neel Reid mansion where golfing great Bobby Jones and his wife lived during the time he achieved the grand slam of golf -- the seven featured homes truly captured the elegance and charm of Frederick Law Olmstead’s Druid Hills.  An added treat, free with a Tour ticket, was the expanded Druid Hills , featuring a wide range of high caliber artists from metro Atlanta held at Moreland Avenue Baptist Church.  Please join us for this very special spring weekend in Druid Hills.

Please Note:

No photography, smoking, food, beverages, backpacks or strollers allowed inside the homes. This is a walking Tour of historical homes which may have steep and narrow stairways. Comfortable, low heeled shoes are essential to your enjoyment of the Tour. The Druid Hills Tour makes every effort to keep the Tour problem-free: it assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries that may occur during the Tour. Please cross all streets only at marked crosswalks and exercise utmost caution. Tour held rain or shine.

Additional Attractions include:

The Druid Hills Home & Garden Tour is a volunteer project of the Druid Hills Civic Association, instrumental in the preservation of the district through the years. A primary goal for the funds raised by the Tour is the enhancement and preservation of the Olmsted designed parks and natural landscape.

Native plants including deciduous azaleas, as well as a variety of annuals and perennials suited for Atlanta's climate were available including moon flowers and heirloom tomato plants for homegrown goodness in your garden. All proceeds benefit Lullwater Conservation Garden, Inc., a non-profit organization for the care and maintenance of the Lullwater Conservation Garden, a natural green space located at the intersection of Lullwater Road and Lullwater Parkway in the heart of the historic Druid Hills neighborhood.

Tour Lunch
On Friday and Saturday a delicious, catered box lunch was available for sale at St. John's Lutheran Church, corner of Ponce de Leon and Oakdale, between 11:30 and 2:30. A choice of sandwich types was offered. Beverages and snacks were available throughout the day.
